Set the clock, rescue Professor Birch, choose Treecko, Torchic, or Mudkip, and start north toward Oldale.
Section 2 Oldale Town and Route 103 RivalHeal in Oldale, collect the free Potion, beat Brendan or May on Route 103, and return for Poke Balls and Running Shoes.
Section 3 Route 102Catch the first real party members, clear the short trainer line, and reach Petalburg City.
Section 4 Petalburg CityMeet Norman, complete Wally's catching tutorial, restock, and leave through the west gate.
Section 5 Route 104 and Pretty Petal Flower ShopWork through both sides of Route 104, mark Cut and Surf items for later, and enter Petalburg Woods.

Phase Checklist
- Littleroot Town and Route 101 - Set the clock, rescue Professor Birch, choose Treecko, Torchic, or Mudkip, and start north toward Oldale.
- Oldale Town and Route 103 Rival - Heal in Oldale, collect the free Potion, beat Brendan or May on Route 103, and return for Poke Balls and Running Shoes.
- Route 102 - Catch the first real party members, clear the short trainer line, and reach Petalburg City.
- Petalburg City - Meet Norman, complete Wally's catching tutorial, restock, and leave through the west gate.
