Phase Checklist

  • Routes 9 and 10: Heal at Route 10 before entering Rock Tunnel. Flash is optional but strongly recommended.
  • Rock Tunnel: Use Repels if low on resources; without Flash, hug walls and follow ladders methodically.
  • Lavender Town, Routes 8 and 7: You cannot finish Pokemon Tower until the Silph Scope, so keep moving west to Celadon.
  • Celadon City and Game Corner: Buy evolution stones and TMs before the midgame opens up. Tea replaces the old vending-machine guard drinks from Gen I.
  • Rocket Hideout: Clear B2F/B3F before the elevator. After the Lift Key, ride down to B4F for Giovanni.
  • Celadon Gym: Fire, Flying, Psychic, and Bug coverage all work; bring status healing for Sleep Powder and poison.
