The Hall of Fame ceremony triggers a wave of new content. Here's the master list of what just opened up — most of it gated by simple progression, some by daily clocks.

Looker Side Quest

The standout post-game narrative — Detective Looker (International Police) has set up a bureau in Lumiose and needs your help. Multi-chapter story arc with original characters Emma and her Espurr "Mimi". Plot ties back to Xerosic (Team Flare). Highly recommended; ~2 hours total.

Trigger: After Hall of Fame, walk into Lumiose City. You'll get a Holo Caster call from Looker asking you to meet him at Rouge Plaza. From there, follow him to the Looker Bureau on North Boulevard.

Chapter breakdown

Chapter 1 — That Man's a Real Looker

Meet Looker, tour the bureau, meet Emma + Mimi. Looker tasks you with finding 5 Looker Tickets scattered around Lumiose.

Chapter 2 — Hot Pursuit of the Phantom Thief

The five Looker Tickets are spread throughout Lumiose. Each one leads you to a Lumiose location/NPC. Pick them all up.

Chapter 3 — Bouts at the Battle Institute

Emma takes a job. The story develops her relationship with Looker as a father figure.

Chapter 4 — An Unforgivable Crime

Emma is unknowingly being controlled by a cloaking suit built by Xerosic — committing crimes she's not aware of. Investigation deepens.

Final — Here's Lookin' At You, Kid

Confrontation with Xerosic. He's arrested. Looker leaves Kalos for his next case but pays for the bureau in full — Emma keeps it. The ending letter from Looker reveals his true International Police identity.

Rewards: No major item rewards (a few Heart Scales / minor items at chapter ends). The reward is the story itself — Looker is one of the most beloved characters in the Pokémon series. Worth playing.

Kiloude City (Train from Lumiose)

The post-game-exclusive city. Reach it by going to Lumiose Station (North Boulevard) and taking the TGV south. Kiloude has:

Pokémon Center: Standard heal + Mart. Includes a Move Tutor for several useful moves.
Battle Maison: ★ The premiere endgame battle facility. See section 13.
Friend Safari attendant: ★ Lets you enter your 3DS friends' Friend Safaris. See section 12.
Move Tutor (some moves): Trades signature moves for Heart Scales / BP.
Move Deleter: Removes HM moves or any move you no longer want.
Rival (Calem/Serena): ★ Appears on the northernmost part of the city after Battle Maison participation. Daily rematch — see section 4.
Battle Restaurant: Higher-tier than Lumiose's. Multi-Battle format.

How to get to Kiloude (first time)

  1. Fly to Lumiose.
  2. Walk to North Boulevard.
  3. Enter Lumiose Station.
  4. Talk to the attendant at the platform — board the train.
  5. Arrive at Kiloude. Free travel from then on.

Kiloude Rival Rematch + Absolite

★ ★ ★ Important post-game milestone. After you've participated in at least one Battle Maison battle (any mode), Calem/Serena shows up in Kiloude. They rematch you once per day at significantly higher levels.

Rival's full roster

PokémonLvNotes
Meowstic66Lead. Light Screen / Reflect setup. Bring Dark.
Clefable68Cute Charm / Magic Guard. Moonblast STAB.
Absol68★ Sucker Punch priority. After winning, the rival gives you Absolite — Absol's Mega Stone.
Altaria67Cloud Nine + Dragon STAB.
Eevee evolution66Varies — usually Sylveon (X) or one of the others. Their pet Eevee from the start.
Their starter (fully-evolved)70★ Counter to yours. Chesnaught / Delphox / Greninja depending on which you took.
★ ★ ★ Rewards:
  • Absolite Mega Stone — Absol's Mega Stone. Mega Absol gets Magic Bounce ability (reflects status moves) and absurd Sp.Atk.
  • Some prize money.
  • ★ ★ ★ Unlocks the Mega Ring Upgrade quest — the rival tells you Sycamore is at the Anistar Sundial. This is required to unlock Mega Stone shimmer hunting.
Daily rematch: The rival is here every day. Each day's rematch grants prize money + experience. Strong farming target if you have time-of-day flexibility.

Mega Ring Upgrade (Anistar Sundial)

After winning the Kiloude rival rematch and receiving Absolite, Calem/Serena tells you Sycamore is waiting at the Anistar Sundial. Fly to Anistar.

The upgrade ceremony

  1. Fly to Anistar City.
  2. Walk to the central crystal Sundial.
  3. Sycamore is waiting — he asks you to touch the Sundial.
  4. Cutscene: the Sundial's energy combines with your Mega Ring's existing energy (from when you were exposed to Xerneas/Yveltal in Geosenge).
  5. Mega Ring upgraded.
★ ★ ★ What the upgrade unlocks:
  • You can now find Mega Stones as shimmer-spots across Kalos.
  • The shimmers only appear from 20:00 to 20:59 (8:00 PM to 8:59 PM) in your 3DS system clock.
  • Use your Dowsing Machine to detect them. They look like small glowing dots on the ground.
  • Walk over the shimmer to pick up the Mega Stone.
See section 9 for the full Mega Stone shimmer list and locations.

Mewtwo (Unknown Dungeon)

The OG legendary — Mewtwo lives in a hidden chamber at the back of Pokémon Village called the Unknown Dungeon. Lv 70. The cave entrance was blocked during Phase 8; it opens after Hall of Fame.

Mewtwo

Mewtwo

Psychic · Lv 70 · Ability: Pressure / Unnerve (HA)

Moves: Psychic, Aura Sphere, Barrier, Recover.

Drops: ★ ★ ★ Mewtwonite X (Pokémon X) or Mewtwonite Y (Pokémon Y) when caught — different Mega per version. Mega Mewtwo X is Psychic/Fighting (Steadfast). Mega Mewtwo Y is pure Psychic (Insomnia, massive Sp.Atk).

How to find it: Fly to Snowbelle, head to Route 20 (Winding Woods), through to Pokémon Village. At the back of the village, the previously-blocked cave is now open — enter the Unknown Dungeon. Mewtwo is in the central chamber.

★ ★ ★ Catch strategy:
  1. Save before the chamber.
  2. Lead with a False Swipe user (Pangoro, Bisharp, Gallade). Recover means Mewtwo can heal back — be patient.
  3. Status: Thunder Wave (Klefki Prankster) or Sleep Powder (Vileplume/Amoonguss) — paralysis/sleep boost catch rate.
  4. Watch Barrier — boosts Defense by 2 stages. Doesn't affect your special hits but matters for False Swipe.
  5. Start throwing Ultra Balls / Dusk Balls (the cave is dark — Dusk Ball gets 3.5× multiplier).
  6. Timer Balls become more effective after 20+ turns.
  7. If you have Master Ball still: 100% guaranteed catch.

Version Note — Mewtwonite

X exclusiveMewtwonite X — Mega Mewtwo X is Psychic/Fighting, Steadfast ability, max Attack +30 / Sp.Atk +40 / Speed +10. Mixed sweeper.
Y exclusiveMewtwonite Y — Mega Mewtwo Y is pure Psychic, Insomnia ability, Sp.Atk +66. Special glass cannon.
RecommendationBoth are top-tier. Mega Mewtwo Y is the strongest pure-power option. Mega Mewtwo X is more versatile. Trade across versions to collect both Mega Stones.

Zygarde (Terminus Cave)

The third Kalos legendary, off-map most of the game. Terminus Cave is on the east end of Route 18. The deepest chamber holds Zygarde — but the Ace Trainer guarding the entrance won't let you in until you're Champion.

Zygarde

Zygarde (50% Forme)

Dragon/Ground · Lv 70 · Ability: Aura Break

Moves: Dragon Pulse, Camouflage, Earthquake, Crunch.

Aura Break: Reverses Fairy Aura and Dark Aura effects (so Xerneas/Yveltal lose their abilities' boost when battling Zygarde).

How to find it: Fly to Couriway. North on Route 18, find Terminus Cave entrance. Inside, navigate through (you'll need Strength + Rock Smash). The Ace Trainer in front of Zygarde's chamber moves aside post-Hall of Fame. Walk in, save, fight Zygarde.

★ ★ ★ Catch strategy:
  1. Save before the chamber.
  2. Lead with False Swipe + Stun Spore / Glare for paralysis.
  3. Avoid switching — Zygarde's Crunch will hit your Ghosts hard.
  4. After 20+ turns, Timer Balls become 3× catch rate.
  5. Dusk Balls work too (Terminus Cave is dark).
  6. Master Ball is a guaranteed answer if you saved it.
Zygarde does NOT respawn if KO'd — be careful.

Roaming Legendary Bird

One of the three Kanto legendary birds roams Kalos based on which starter you chose. Lv 70. Roaming means it moves between random routes each time you fly or change areas. Tracking it via the Town Map shows current location.

Your starterBirdTypeMoves (approx.)
ChespinArticunoIce/FlyingMind Reader, Hail, Tailwind, Sheer Cold
FennekinZapdosElectric/FlyingDrill Peck, Thunder Wave, Detect, Roost
FroakieMoltresFire/FlyingWing Attack, Roost, Heat Wave, Sky Attack
★ Hunting tip:
  1. Open your Town Map (X menu → Town Map). The bird shows up as a glowing dot on a route.
  2. Fly to the route it's on.
  3. Walk into tall grass — encounter is RNG, repeat until it appears.
  4. It flees turn 1. Mean Look (Crobat/Umbreon learn it) or Wobbuffet's Shadow Tag locks it in. Block-style Pokémon also work.
  5. Lead with a Quick Ball — best success on turn 1. Otherwise False Swipe + status, then Ultra/Timer Balls.

Mega Stone Shimmer Hunt (20:00–20:59 only)

★ ★ ★ The biggest post-game collection goal. After the Mega Ring upgrade at Anistar, Mega Stones appear as glowing shimmer-spots across Kalos. They only appear from 20:00 to 20:59 each day (3DS system clock time). One Mega Stone per spot, picked up via Dowsing Machine.

Source caveat: The full shimmer-spot list of every Mega Stone with exact route coordinates is one of the harder pieces of data to nail without active wiki access. Some exact locations may vary across sources. All Mega Stones DO appear at 20:00–20:59 shimmer spots — just walk routes during that hour with Dowsing on.

Mega Stones you already have

  • From the main story: Charizardite X/Y (Sycamore Phase 2), Venusaurite or Blastoisinite (alternate Phase 2), Lucarionite (Korrina Phase 3), Ampharosite (Sea Spirit's Den Phase 4), Gengarite (Laverre Phase 6), Abomasite (Frost Cavern Phase 8), Absolite (Kiloude rival), Mewtwonite X/Y (Mewtwo).

Battle Chateau Endgame + Gym Leader Rematches

Battle Chateau (Route 7 north side) opens up significantly post-game. Higher-rank trainers appear, gym leaders show up randomly as Marquis/Marchioness-rank challengers, and you can buy Writs to invite specific opponents.

Rank progression after Champion

  • Earl/Countess — already unlocked.
  • Marquis/Marchioness — requires defeating ~15–20 Earls. Gym leaders start appearing at this rank.
  • Duke/Duchess — defeating Marquises. Higher-level trainer rosters (Lv 65+).
  • Grand Duke/Duchess — highest rank. Endless grind for prize money.

Writs you can buy

WritCostEffect
Silver Writ of Challenge~10,000 PSpawns higher-rank Marquis-tier trainers for 30 minutes.
Gold Writ of Challenge~30,000 PSpawns Duke-tier trainers.
Black Writ of Challenge~50,000 PDrops opponent level by 10 — easier grind, less XP.
Red Writ of Challenge~20,000 PIncreases prize money.
Blue Writ of Challenge~20,000 PIncreases XP gain.

Gym Leader rematches in the Chateau

★ All 8 gym leaders can appear in the Chateau at random as Marquis/Marchioness/Duke/Duchess. Their rosters are higher-level versions of their gym teams (Lv 60–70+). Defeating each grants you big prize money.

Optimal Chateau grind: Buy a Blue Writ for XP boost, then a Silver Writ to spawn high-rank trainers. Stack both and you can grind a Pokémon from Lv 50 to Lv 70 in ~30 minutes.

Anistar Old Man → Comet Shard

★ ★ Remember the depressed widower from Phase 7? Now that you've entered the Hall of Fame, return to Anistar City and visit his house (two north of the boutique). The widower has passed away. He left behind:

  • The Pokémon you lent him — returns to your box.
  • A letter — emotional cutscene.
  • ★ A Comet Shard — sells for 60,000 P. Or hold as Star Piece-tier collectible.
If you didn't lend him a Pokémon in Phase 7: The quest is lost. There's no second chance. Lend one on a fresh playthrough.

Friend Safari

Located in Kiloude City. Each 3DS friend you have registered (via Friend Code) gets a Safari assigned to them — three random Pokémon species, sometimes with Hidden Abilities. Visiting your friend's Safari lets you encounter and catch those Pokémon.

How it works

  1. Register a 3DS friend via the system menu (you need their Friend Code).
  2. Talk to the Friend Safari attendant in Kiloude.
  3. Pick a friend from the list.
  4. Enter their Safari — encounter up to 3 species of Pokémon of a single type (matched to the friend's "Safari type" — Fire, Water, Grass, etc., random per friend).
  5. Hidden Abilities: After defeating a certain number of Pokémon (your friend's online status / Safari progress), the third Pokémon spawns with its Hidden Ability. Huge for competitive breeding.
Optimal use: Add lots of Kalos players' Friend Codes (Reddit / r/3dsfriends posts thousands). Each new friend = a new Safari = potential Hidden Ability mons. Some Pokémon (Ditto, Tyrunt, Pancham) have Friend-Safari-exclusive Hidden Abilities.

Battle Maison

The post-game competitive simulator. Kiloude City. Multiple modes — pick your format.

Modes available

  • Vitamins at discount.
  • Held items (Choice Band/Scarf/Specs, Leftovers, Life Orb, Focus Sash).
  • TMs not available elsewhere.
  • Specific rare items (Ability Capsule for swapping abilities, etc.).
Recommended starting team for Battle Maison: Mega Kangaskhan (if you trade for Kangaskhanite from ORAS), Mega Lucario, Aegislash, Greninja, Heracross/Pinsir (Megas), Talonflame. Or for tank: Mega Sableye + Aegislash + Slowbro. Generic balanced teams work fine — Battle Maison AI is beatable.

Shiny Charm + Pokédex Completion

★ ★ ★ The Pokédex collector's grail.

National Pokédex

  • Kalos Pokédex (Central + Coastal + Mountain — ~150 each, ~457 total Kalos species). Completing each section earns rewards from Professor Sycamore in Lumiose.
  • National Pokédex — all 718 Gen 1–6 Pokémon. Unlock by upgrading Pokédex (talk to Sycamore after completing Kalos Pokédex).

Shiny Charm

★ Held item — increases shiny encounter rate from 1/4096 to about 1/1366 (about 3× chance). Critical for shiny hunters.

  • Source: Game Freak office in Lumiose City (Hotel Richissime area, 2F). Talk to the lead game developer NPC.
  • Requirement: Complete the National Pokédex (all 718 species registered as caught).
  • Stacks with: Masuda Method (breeding with foreign-language Ditto/parent), Pokeradar chaining (in older games), regular grinding.
Shortcut to National Pokédex: Trade Pokémon you can't catch in your version via Wonder Trade / GTS. Most cross-gen Pokémon (Gen 1–5 not in Kalos) need to be transferred from older games via Pokémon Bank.
