- Advance the objective. Follow the section summary and finish required rival, Plasma, Gym, or League battles first.
- Sweep trainers and items. Use the tables below in map order, then make a separate Dowsing Machine pass.
- Set the right filters. Black 2 and White 2 diverge in encounter slots, routes, facilities, and key unlocks; difficulty modes keep distinct boss records.
- Close optional loops. Check Hidden Grottoes, weekday statics, seasonal access, gifts, and postgame prerequisites before leaving.

Difficulty mode comparison
Easy Mode
Unlock: Defeat Champion Iris in White 2, or receive the Easy Key through Unova Link.
Most Trainer Pokémon drop by 1 level; major bosses use separately encoded lower levels and may have reduced parties or held-item pressure.
Difficulty changes are applied when the mode is active. Boss party membership and levels come from distinct cached party blocks; ordinary trainers commonly use the ±1 level annotations in location tables. Experience is based on the opponent's displayed level; higher Challenge levels therefore increase experience while lower Easy levels reduce it. Prize money follows the mode-specific table value when listed.Challenge Mode
Unlock: Defeat Champion Iris in Black 2, or receive the Challenge Key through Unova Link.
Most Trainer Pokémon rise by 1 level; major bosses use separately encoded higher levels and may gain an additional Pokémon, held items, moves, or stronger AI configuration.
