Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl
This is a combined, original-wording Pokémon Diamond and Pearl guide for the Nintendo DS releases. It follows the existing site rhythm while using decoded Diamond/Pearl source data for encounters, trainers, visible items, hidden items, scripted gifts, static Pokémon, and version differences.
Diamond / Pearl, not Platinum
Clear Sinnoh from Twinleaf to Cynthia, then finish the Battle Zone, National Dex systems, legendaries, and clearly labeled retail-event content. Distortion World, Platinum's altered Gym order, and Platinum encounter tables are outside this guide.
Quick Start
- Starter: Turtwig is the safest early defensive route, Piplup has excellent first-Gym pacing, and Chimchar supplies scarce Fire coverage. Barry always chooses the starter with a type advantage over yours.
- Clock: morning is 04:00-09:59, day is 10:00-19:59, and night is 20:00-03:59. Friday Drifloon and other calendar events use the Nintendo DS clock.
- Versions: Diamond and Pearl share the route order. Every encounter row merges only when both games are identical; Dialga/Palkia and version slots stay separate.
- Completion: the Champion is not the end. National Dex, Battle Zone, Stark Mountain, Pal Park, Radar, swarms, roamers, postgame legendaries, and event-only mythicals live in Phases 10-11.

Major Trainers

All 98 D/P trainer classes have a cropped 80×80 web asset and manifest entry. Section tables use the class sprite beside every trainer; boss cards render the same source art at a larger size.
Version And Time Rules
- Grass: base slots total 100%. Daily swarms replace slots 0-1 (40% total), day/night replace slots 2-3 (20%), Radar replaces slots 4/5/10/11 (22%), and each inserted GBA game replaces slots 8-9 (8%). A base row says when its replacement is inactive; Great Marsh daily slots replace 10% rather than stacking to 110%.
- Morning: 04:00-09:59 uses the base slots. The archive's special 0x6C pair applies during day, 10:00-19:59; 0x74 applies at night, 20:00-03:59.
- Rock Smash: original Diamond/Pearl has no random Rock Smash encounter table; the field move opens paths and items only.
- Honey: the four Munchlax candidates are derived from all four bytes of the save's full public-plus-secret Trainer ID; no universal fixed tree list is claimed.
- Events: the Member Card, Oak's Letter, and Azure Flute routes exist in original D/P data, but none of those three key items was officially distributed for original Diamond/Pearl. Their pages are archival and never presented as normal retail completion.
Source And Validation
- Primary data:
pret/pokediamondcommit038cccaed5de8f013875bc5d734f912d1de08e0f. - Decoded: 183 Diamond and 183 Pearl encounter members, 512 event banks, 850 trainer records, 98 trainer classes, item-ball scripts, hidden-item records, mapped scripts, gifts, trades, and static battles.
- Machine-readable validation report records coverage counts, invariants, assets, output pages, and source paths.
